Electrical Safety Inspection
Home and business owners are usually unaware on electrical fire and hazardsEach year 15 Australians are killed and 300 hospitalised from electrical accidents that could have been prevented by an up to date switchboard.
Each year In Australia there are 10,000 house fires. Electrical faults are the second most common cause and could have been prevented if their electrical system had been inspected. |
- Visual check in the switchboard that all electrical equipment and cables are not damaged, fused or without adequate insulation
- Check that the current rating & breaking capacity of protective devices are correct for the circuits they protect
- Ensure that semi-enclosed re-wireable fuses, where fitted, have not deteriorated due to arcing & have no accessible exposed live parts
- Check that all switches and protective devices are clearly labelled showing the circuit type they control or protect
- Ensure the main switch has overload & short circuit protection
- Check all neutral bars are supported on insulated fittings
- Conduct testing where there is separate earth & neutral bars, earthing conductors are connected to the earth bar & neutral conductors are connected to the neutral bar
- Test that the main earthing conductor from the earth electrode is correctly connected at the main switchboard & earth electrode is compliant with current standards
- Check that the main earthing conductor is the correct size
- Check the MEN connection between neutral & earth at the main switchboard
- Ensure that the switchboard is constructed and installed for fire containment
- Check that all power and light circuits have safety switches installed
- Test all safety switches for trip time with calibrated instruments
- Visual inspection of power points, switches and light fixtures
- At the end of the inspection, we will provide a detailed report to have on file including photos of any anomalies found
- We will also give you a written quote with recommendations to rectify any defects or issues identified during the inspection
